Remote Credentialed Veterinary Technician

Department: Phone Shift VIS II
Location:

Credentialed (CVTs, LVTs, RVTs) Veterinary Technicians are assigned to different service lines based on our company needs and the applicant's background/experience. Below you will find information on the different service lines and positions we're currently hiring for, as well as information about schedules, training, and pay ranges.


Veterinary Industry Representative II, Job Description:
The Veterinary Industry Representative II (VIR) position is responsible for responding to incoming cases through SafetyCall International via telephone regarding potential adverse events and other questions or concerns from pet owners and veterinary professionals related to various products. The VIR will take full histories and details of the events, triage the cases, and provide accurate medical, health, and safety information to the callers. VIR's document each case in an electronic record and follow up as necessary to ensure the well-being of the animals and facilitate adverse event reporting. Given the nature of the position, many pet owners are calling under stressful circumstances and are therefore in distress. VIRs must be able to manage cases under pressure and be comfortable talking to people in various emotional states.

Full-time Schedule:
Day Shift:

  • Works 40 hours per week; 5 shifts per week, each shift is 8.5 hours long
  • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 7am-5pm CST. Scheduled start and ends times will vary within that range.
  • Scheduled M-F only, no weekends, no major holidays
  • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance.

Part-time Schedule:
Evening Shift:

  • Works 20 hours per week, 4 days a week, 5 hour shifts
  • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 3pm-10pm CST, shift start and end times are scheduled in advance and will from day to day
  • Works every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays
  • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance.

Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) Representative II, Job Description:
The PPH Representative is responsible for responding to incoming cases on Pet Poison Helpline and our animal nurse lines via telephone and chat regarding potential toxic exposures, poisonings, and other adverse events or general care inquiries from pet owners. PPH Reps take full histories and details of the events, triage the cases, and provide accurate medical, health, and safety information to the callers. PPH Reps document each case in an electronic record and follow up as necessary to ensure the well-being of the animals. Given the nature of the position, many pet owners are calling under stressful circumstances and are therefore in distress. PPH Reps must be able to manage cases under pressure and be comfortable talking to people in various emotional states.

Full Time Schedule Options:

Mid Shift Option 1:

  • Works 40 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 10.5 hours long
  • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 10am-10:30pm CST. Scheduled start and ends times will vary within that range.
  • Works every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays
  • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance.

Mid Shift Option 2:

  • Works 40 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 10.5 hours long
  • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 11am-11:30pm CST. Scheduled start and ends times will vary within that range.
  • Works every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays
  • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance.

Evening Shift (includes a $2/hour shift differential):

  • Works 40 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 10.5 hours long
  • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 2pm-2:30am CST. Scheduled start and ends times will vary within that range.
  • Works every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays
  • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance.

Float Shift (includes a $3/hour shift differential):

  • Works 40 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 10.5 hours long
  • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 5am-2:30am CST. Scheduled start and ends times will vary within that range.
  • Works every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays
  • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance.


Part Time Schedule:
Evening Shift:

  • Works 20 hours per week; 4 shifts per week, each shift is 5 hours long
  • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 5pm-12am CST. Scheduled start and end times will vary within that range
  • Works every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays
  • Work weeks run Saturday-Friday
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance

Overnight Veterinary Information Specialist (VIS) II, Job Description:
The Overnight VIS is responsible for responding to incoming cases on Pet Poison Helpline, Adverse Event cases on our SafetyCall phone lies, as well as cases through our animal nurse lines. Cases can be via telephone and chat regarding potential toxic exposures, poisonings, and other adverse events or general care inquiries from pet owners. VIS take full histories and details of the events, triage the cases, and provide accurate medical, health, and safety information to the callers. VIS document each case in an electronic record and follow up as necessary to ensure the well-being of the animals. Additionally, VIS team members are cross trained to serve as a back up on our human adverse event phone lines. Given the nature of the position, many people are calling under stressful circumstances and are therefore in distress. VIS team members must be able to manage cases under pressure and be comfortable talking to people in various emotional states.

Full-time Schedule:
Overnight Shift (includes a $5/hour shift differential):

  • Works 40 hours per week, each shift is 10 hours long
  • Works from 9pm to 7am CST
  • Works a repeating schedule of Tuesday-Saturday then has 3 days off, then works Wednesday-Friday then has 3 days off.
  • Will work holidays that fall during their "on" rotation
  • Work weeks run Saturday through Friday.
  • Schedules are issued several weeks in advance.

Training Requirements for all positions/shifts:
Full-time and Part-time candidates must be able to commit to a 4-week (6-weeks for the Overnight shift), full time, paid, remote training process up front. Training schedules are determined in advance and may include daytime/evening hours as well as weekends. Currently, we are unable to work with any scheduling conflicts during the training process. After training is complete the shift you are hired for will begin.


Required Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Active CVT/LVT/RVT License and at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic/hospital (for some positions at least one year of emergency/critical care experience is preferred)
  • Ability to work varying shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain active licensure, if applicable.
  • Above average proficiency with keyboarding, PCs, Microsoft Office, and common computer software and hardware.
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, ratios and percentages.
  • Verbal and written communication that is clear, concise, accurate, professional, empathetic, and compassionate on a regular basis, including during stressful or high-pressure situations and interactions.
  • Strong attention to detail and spelling with the ability to accurately enter data with very few errors.
  • Ability to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex or diverse information.
  • Customer service focused attitude and behavior.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients’ products, procedures, and case detail as well as SCI’s operating procedures.
  • Remote employees must be able to meet and maintain IT requirements following SCI policies.

Remote Agent Requirement:

In addition, employees must also have a space that allows them to work without interruptions or distractions, and must not have any other responsibilities during the time they are working such as caring for animals or dependents.


Pay & Benefits:

  • The starting base rate of pay is between $20-21/hour. Shift differentials are applied on top of the base rate if applicable.
  • Employees who work weekend phone shifts between the hours of 12am CST on Saturday through 4am CST on Monday will receive an additional $5/hour differential on top of their base rate and any other differentials that they have.
  • Pay varies based on the individual where we look at several factors including education, experience, and credentials. Pay will be discussed on an individual basis in the interview process.
